Cosmetic Tattoo Services Mississauga ON

At Xtremities, our cosmetic tattoo services include microblading and soft powder ombré finishes.

Microblading

Microblading is a hand-tool technique where your tattoo artist creates individual fine strokes that look like real brow hairs. The result is a soft, textured finish. It suits dry to normal skin best. Healing takes about four to six weeks, with a touchup visit at six to eight weeks. Microblading costs CAD 280 at our studio. Call (905) 897-3503 for a consultation.

Ombré Brows

Ombré brows use a soft shading technique to build a gradient finish. The front is light and airy, while the tail is fuller and more defined. This style holds up well on oily and mature skin, where microblading often softens. Healing takes four to six weeks. We also offer ombré brows for CAD 280.

What is a Cosmetic Tattoo?

A cosmetic tattoo places pigment just under the skin to shape, define, or enhance facial features. It is sometimes called semi permanent makeup, because the colour softens and fades gradually over the years. The pigments, needles, and techniques are different from body tattooing, but the safety standards are the same.

Cosmetic tattooing fits people who have trouble applying regular makeup. The result should never look painted on. Done well, it looks like you, on a good day, without the effort.

People choose cosmetic tattoo makeup for many reasons. Some want ten or fifteen minutes off their morning routine. Others have sparse brows or lashes that disappear without eyeliner. Some want their features to stay put through gym and pool activities, long workdays, and travel.

Natural Microbladed Brows

 Natural microblading eyebrows

A close-up of microbladed brows showing hair-like strokes layered over the client's natural brow hairs. The shape follows the client's own bone structure, with a soft arch and a slightly tapered tail. This is a good example of the microblading cosmetic tattoo style for clients who want their brows to look fuller without looking drawn on.

Ombré Powder Brows

Ombré Powder Brows

An ombré brow on a client, showing the soft gradient from a lighter front to a denser, defined tail. The finish looks like brows filled in with a light hand of powder, structured, but still soft. Ombré permanent makeup brows are a good match for clients who wear brow makeup most days and want that look built in.

What Happens in a Tattoo Cosmetic Appointment?

Every cosmetic tattoo appointment starts with a conversation. Your permanent makeup artist will look at your face shape and the look you want. Then, they will hand-draw the design directly on your skin. Nothing moves forward until you see it in a mirror and approve it. If something feels off, we redraw. This is your face, and we treat it that way.

Once the shape is set, your artist applies a numbing gel to keep the session comfortable. The pigment is then layered in using a fine, single-use needle cartridge. Most clients describe the feeling as mild scratching or light pressure, nothing close to what they expected. A full brow or eyeliner tattoo session usually takes one to two hours.

We use single-use, pre-sterilized needle cartridges for each client, and every surface is covered with disposable barriers. Reusable tools are sterilized in a medical-grade autoclave. We run daily in-house spore tests and send independent lab spore tests regularly to confirm the autoclave is working correctly.

We have never failed a health inspection in more than twenty years. The pigments we use are professional-grade and chosen for skin safety and colour stability.

Cosmetic Tattoo Healing Process

Healing from cosmetic tattoo treatment takes about four to six weeks. But the area looks mostly settled after the first week or two. The colour will look slightly darker and sharper right after the session, then soften as the skin heals.

Good cosmetic tattoo results generally last one to three years, depending on your skin type, sun exposure, and skincare habits. Oily skin and heavy exfoliation shorten the pigment's lifespan, while sunscreen extends it.

After-Care for Your Cosmetic Tattoo

Cosmetic tattoo aftercare is simple, but it matters. The first two weeks are when your skin decides how much pigment it keeps, so a little care here pays off for years.

Your artist will send you home with a written plan. It may look like this.

First 24 Hours

Gently blot the area with a clean tissue every hour or so to lift away any clear fluid. This keeps the surface from forming a thick scab. Do not scrub, soak, or pick at it.

Days 2 to 14

Wash the area once or twice a day with lukewarm water and a drop of unscented gentle cleanser. Pat dry. Apply an aftercare balm in a very thin layer, thin enough that the skin still looks matte, not shiny. Too much ointment suffocates healing skin and can pull pigment out.

What to Avoid While Healing

Avoid makeup on the treated area. No facials, no sun tanning, no swimming pools, saunas, or hot tubs, and no heavy sweating for at least 10 days. Do not use exfoliants, retinol, or acids anywhere near the cosmetic tattoo until it is fully healed. Sleep on your back if you can, until the tattoo is healed.

What Is Normal During the Healing Process

The colour will look too dark for the first few days. Then it will go through a cloudy or patchy stage from days 5 to 10 as the top layer sheds. This is not the pigment failing. The true colour surfaces underneath as the skin settles, usually by week four.

Long-Term Care

Daily sunscreen on the area is the single biggest factor in how long your cosmetic tattoo lasts. UV breaks down pigment faster than anything else. Most clients book a refresh every one to three years to keep the colour looking its best.

If anything looks or feels off during healing, call us. We would much rather take a quick look and reassure you than have you worrying at home. Follow-up check-ins are free.

FAQs

Is a cosmetic tattoo the same as a tattoo?

The basic idea is the same. Pigment is placed under the skin with a needle. But the pigments, depth, and needles are different. Cosmetic tattoos fade slowly, so the look can be updated.

Is cosmetic tattooing permanent?

No. Most cosmetic tattoos last about three years before softening enough that you want a refresh. Skin type, sun exposure, and skincare products all affect how long your results stay sharp and bright.

Which is better, microblading or tattooing?

For brows, microblading usually looks more natural because each stroke mimics a real hair. Standard tattooing tends to blur over time on the face.

Do cosmetic tattoos hurt?

Many clients describe it as light scratching or pressure, much milder than they expected. We apply a topical numbing cream before starting and reapply during the session if needed.

What happens to your real eyebrows after microblading?

Nothing. Microblading places pigment in the skin between and around your real hairs. It doesn't damage the follicles or stop new hair from growing. Your natural brows keep doing exactly what they were doing before.

Does microblading eyebrows make you look younger?

It can. Fuller, softly shaped brows tend to lift the face and make the eyes look more open. Thin, over-plucked brows often add years to your appearance.
