Our Ear Piercing Process

Our ear piercing process at Xtremities follows these clear 6 steps:

Step 1: ID Verification & Consultation

Arrive at our studio located at 37 Dundas St W, Mississauga, ON L5B 1H2. Ensure you have a

valid driver's license, passport, or Ontario Photo Card. Minors must bring a guardian with

matching last names or legal documentation.

After verification, we begin by understanding your preferences and answering any questions you

may have. Our experts help you select the perfect piercing and jewelry style.

Step 2. Anatomy Consultation

Our piercers don't just clamp and shoot. We assess your lobe thickness, scar tissue from

past piercings, and facial symmetry.

Step 3: Preparation

Your safety is our priority. We thoroughly clean and sanitize the piercing area. All equipment used is

sterile and single-use to eliminate risks.

Step 4: Marking the Spot

Our piercers mark the exact location of the piercing to ensure precise placement. We mark the site

with a skin-safe marker to preview your alignment. You’ll have the opportunity to confirm the

spot before we proceed.

Step 5: The Piercing

Our experienced piercers perform the procedure quickly and accurately using sterilized needles and

advanced techniques. This minimizes discomfort and ensures the piercing is done correctly. We never

use piercing guns, which cause blunt force trauma to the lobe tissue and cannot be properly

autoclaved.

Step 6: Jewellery Placement

Once the piercing is complete, we insert your chosen earrings. You get to pick from surgical steel,

titanium, and gold earrings. And we ensure a secure and comfortable fit.

Step 7: Aftercare Instructions

We provide detailed aftercare guidance to help healing and prevent complications. Our

ear-piercing specialists are always available to answer questions during your healing

process.

Types of Ear Piercings We Offer

We offer all types of ear piercings in our walk-in studio. Take a look at what you can select:

1. Lobe Piercing in Mississauga ON

Lobe piercing is the most common and beginner-friendly ear piercing. It is suitable for all ages. It

involves piercing the lower and fleshy part of the ear. Healing time is typically 6-8 weeks.

2. Helix Piercings

A helix piercing is placed on the upper cartilage of the ear. Helix piercings offer a sleek, stylish look. Healing time ranges from 6-12 months.

3. Tragus Piercings

Tragus piercings are trendy and versatile. They are located near the ear canal on the small cartilage flap. Healing time is 3-9 months.

4. Daith Piercings

Believed by some to help alleviate migraines, Daith piercings loop through the innermost cartilage fold. Healing time is around 6-9 months.

5. Conch Piercings

A conch piercing is placed in the middle cartilage of the ear. It can accommodate studs or hoops. Healing takes 6-12 months.

6. Industrial Piercings

A bold statement, industrial piercings connect two points of the ear cartilage with a single barbell. Healing requires 9-12 months.

Industrial piercing

7. Rook Piercings

Located in the cartilage fold above the tragus, rook piercings add a unique touch. Healing takes 3-9 months.

Earlobe vs Cartilage Piercings:
What's the Difference?

A lobe piercing is placed in the fleshy lower part of the ear and heals in about 6 to 8 weeks. It's the

least painful ear piercing and the most popular starting point.

On the other hand, a cartilage piercing sits higher up or further inside the ear, in the firmer tissue.

That includes the helix, tragus, conch, and industrial. Cartilage takes much longer to heal (up to 12

months) and feels slightly more painful during the piercing itself.

The two also need different jewellery and slightly different aftercare habits. For a full side-by-side

breakdown on pain, healing, jewellery, and which one suits you, read our lobe vs cartilage piercings

guide.

FAQs

Where is the safest place to get your ears pierced?

The safest place to get your ears pierced is at our professional ear piercing shop, Xtremities Tattoo & Piercing Studio. We use sterile equipment, follow strict hygiene protocols, and ensure your comfort and safety throughout the process.

Do pharmacists pierce ears?

While some pharmacies offer ear piercing services, it’s recommended to visit a professional ear piercing place like Xtremities for a safer and more hygienic experience.

Do you need a professional to pierce your ears?

Yes, you need a professional to pierce your ears to ensure the procedure is done safely and accurately. At Xtremities, our experienced piercers use sterile tools and advanced techniques to achieve optimal results.

Why choose Xtremities piercing for a child?

Our ear-piercing place offers a safe, hygienic, and child-friendly environment. Our experienced

piercers minimize discomfort and guide parents through the aftercare process to promote proper

healing. And, we have a special piercer who has experience working with young children.

What should ear-piercing studs be made of?

Ear piercing studs should be made of hypoallergenic materials such as surgical steel, titanium, or

14-karat gold to minimize the risk of allergic reactions and promote safe healing.

How painful is a lobe piercing?

The lobe is soft tissue with few nerve endings, so most people feel a quick pinch that's over in under

a second. Soreness fades within a day or two. A lobe piercing is one of the least painful ear piercings.

How to sleep with an earlobe piercing?

Sleep on your back for the first few weeks if you can. If you're a side sleeper, switch sides each night

to keep pressure off the new piercings. A clean pillowcase changed every 2 to 3 days helps prevent

irritation and infection.

How to clean an ear piercing?

Wash your hands first, then spray sterile saline on the front and back of the piercing. Let it air-dry or

pat it with clean gauze. Do this once or twice a day. Skip rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, and

antibiotic ointment unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Do I need a piercing pillow after an ear piercing?

Not strictly. But they can help if you sleep on your side and want to protect cartilage piercings. A

piercing pillow has a hole that keeps pressure off the ear while you sleep. Still, most lobe piercings

heal fine without one.

What happens if my piercing gets irritated during the weekend?

Unlike mall kiosks that disappear after your purchase, we provide an aftercare guarantee. If you

notice unexpected swelling or if a ball falls out, you can text our studio line directly or walk right

back into the shop for a jewellery adjustment.
